Intensive football and English programme

New ISS locations for intensive football and English programme!

With all the uncertainty over the past year ACCORD and ISS are excited to share some good and exciting news! We will be opening two new summer camp locations AND they will offer an exciting new intensive football and English programme in partnership with the Paris Saint-Germain Academy England.

The new summer school locations will be located at Tonbridge school in Tonbridge, Kent, and St Lawrence College in Ramsgate, Kent. Both schools are excellent additions to the ACCORD ISS portfolio and will join the existing summer school of Rossall in Lancashire.

Intensive football and English programme

The new additions will offer a new intensive residential English and football programme in partnership with the Paris Saint-Germain Academy England. This will include: full board residential accommodation, English lessons (British council accredited), football training the Paris Saint-Germain Academy way, full Nike Paris Saint-Germain Academy England kit, football stadium visits (Arsenal, Chelsea, Wembley) and excursions to other nearby attractions including Canterbury, London, Brighton and Hastings.

The two schools have been chosen for their excellent facilities which will complement the Paris Saint-Germain Academy England programme well. Each school has astro-pitches, full-size football pitches, fitness centres/ gym.

Of course the locations of the schools are ideal too. Both schools are within easy reach of London and its many airports:
– St Lawrence College is close to the beautiful Ramsgate harbour and beaches,
– Tonbridge school, in the heart of Kent is surrounded by both a bustling town and serene countryside.

A day programme will also be available at both schools where students who may be holidaying with family can benefit from the unique programme too! They will also have the opportunity to join the weekly trip to a football stadium in London.

Intensive football and English programme

ACCORD ISS have been the exclusive UK partner of the Paris Saint-Germain Academy England since 2015 and its popularity with international and English teens has grown every year. These two programmes are the first intensive football programmes which we have offered where football and sport will be the focus along with English learning. The ‘regular’ All Inclusive Programme will still be available at Rossall school.

Taking the DELF/DALF Exam in Paris

ACCORD Language School offers a service supporting its students enrolled in the DELF or DALF exam preparation course to register for the exam with an exam centre in Paris.

Taking the DELF/DALF Exam in Paris: On arrival at the school, students just need to speak to our Head of Studies or his deputy (their office is just near the welcome area  when you enter the school) and ask for their help to register to take the DELF or the DALF exam in Paris.

It is important students ask for our help as soon as they arrive at the school as exam centres in Paris strongly recommend checking availability for the exam date selected a minimum of 8 weeks ahead.

DELF and DALF exam dates in Paris

Taking the DELF/DALF Exam in Paris

Once the students have given our staff their chosen exam date, our colleagues will check with the exam centre if there are places available on the date requested and if not what other options there may be.

Once the exam centre has confirmed availability for the chosen exam date, our staff will support the students throughout the exam registration procedure, completing the registration form, etc.

Important – Taking the DELF/DALF Exam in Paris: Our colleagues will help as much as possible but it is the student’s responsibility to pay the exam fees as soon as the application form is completed to guarantee a place for the exam session date chosen as the exam centre will not save a place until they receive the payment from the student.

Once the registration form has been completed and exam fees paid, the exam centre will send the students the ‘convocation’ (notification to attend the exam).

The students need to make sure they attend the exam at the date and times specified in the ‘convocation’.
ACCORD School cannot be in any way held responsible for the students not attending the exam session booked.

We recommend students to ask the exam centre to send the final diploma to ACCORD as often students have returned to their home country and cannot return to the exam centre to collect it personally. ACCORD School will send the diploma by standard post to the address confirmed by the students once the diploma has been received at the school usually within 9 to 10 weeks of the exam taking place.
It is also possible to send the diploma via a courier service such as DHL for a fee of 170€.

How to choose a good French Language School

We know that choosing a high quality French language school requires careful research as there are many important factors to consider before selecting a French language school in France and enrol in a French language course.

In this new information blog we recommend/ list some of the most important points you need to look at before you choose a French language school.

How to choose a good French Language School

The number of years as a French Language school and its experience:
As you have probably seen or read in magazines dedicated to the language industry, language schools come and go. First of all, choosing a language school that has been operating for a number of years demonstrates that the language school has developed an experience and built a reputation as a professional organisation. Such a school knows how to provide the best possible experience in French language learning for its students.

ACCORD Paris has been running an all year round school for 35 years and has welcome over 130.000 students during that time. We pride ourselves on our long-standing reputation as one of the best French language schools in France.

How to select a very good French Language School

Accreditation:
There are many language schools operating in France, but not all these schools adhere to stringent standards of quality.

“Qualité FLE” accreditation: the “label Qualité FLE” is the official Quality Accreditation for French as a Foreign Language. The Qualité FLE accreditation is awarded once the school has been inspected. The accreditation is based on a frame of work focusing on the five following areas:
– Training, teaching
– Teachers
– Welcome, support and guidance
– Premises, security, facilities
– Management

On the 28th of March 2007, after going through the inspection reports, the interministerial accreditation committee awarded fifteen schools the first official Quality Accreditation for French as a Foreign Language, and ACCORD was one of those very first schools to be accredited in France. The decree stating the creation of the Qualité FLE Accreditation was published on the 28th of December 2007 in the Official Journal of the French Republic.

In France, there are between 300 and 400 French langue learning centres and schools. With so many centres and schools to choose from, students and language service providers (education agents, travel agencies specialising in language stays, etc.) now have a major tool which helps them choose or recommend a language stay among a selection of the best centres: the “label Qualité FLE”.

ACCORD is also a member of Campus France, which is an advantage to any student requesting a visa.

Select a very good French Language School for your French course in France

Class size:
Some French Language schools are focused on opening classes with a high number of students and by doing so, they sacrifice the quality of teaching and learning. Squeezing too many students in a class means that the students do not get an adequate level of attention from the class teacher and can’t participate actively in class.

At ACCORD, we limit class size to a maximum of 14, and our average is 10. In classes dedicated to the preparation of the DELF exam, for example, the maximum per class is 6 students (average 4) and in our Business French lessons in mini-groups, the maximum is 3 students per class (average 2). For each course, we welcome the number of students to ensure that every learner receives the best level of attention whilst being in a dynamic learning environment.

How to choose a very good French Language School

Teachers of French and Teaching method:
When looking for a French Language School, you must of course make sure about the quality of the teaching, whether the French teachers are fully qualified and also experienced in teaching adults if you are looking for an adult course, or juniors if you are looking for a summer course for young learners.

At ACCORD, our teachers are fully qualified in teaching French as a foreign language and are all university graduates. They also are very experienced teachers who create their own teaching material and constantly update the material to ensure their lessons are fresh, modern and dynamic.

At ACCORD, our teaching method is based on oral communication as we believe that by recreating real-life situations, students are able to develop their communication skills, and feel confident when speaking French outside the classroom environment.

Nationality mix:
One of the real key points of any quality French language school is the ability to provide a real culturally diverse mix of students.

At ACCORD we guarantee that we have no nationality over 12% at the school.
This figure is verified by the Label Qualité FLE accreditation body.

How to choose a good French Language School

Location and premises:
We recommend you choose a language school that is located in a city that is well connected by public transport and which offers students the maximum cultural opportunities such as visiting museums, historical monuments, going out to cafés and restaurants, all these important aspects enabling you to learn more about French Culture, History and Civilisation.

Coming to Paris, the world’s most visited city in the world allows you to enjoy a full educational, cultural and social experience. Booking a French language course in ACCORD Paris is the best way to improve your French language skills in the most beautiful city in the world!

Our Tips to Learn French Fast in France, in Paris!

Learning a foreign language can be a real challenge, especially if you never enjoyed it at school or if you feel that because you have a low level, you won’t manage it… but with a positive mind and a little motivation, studying French can become child’s play. Here are our tips to learn French fast.

THE BEST TIPS TO LEARN FRENCH FAST

Go for a full immersion French course abroad!

The best way to learn French fast is certainly through full immersion in France. This can be daunting at first, but you will learn French very fast and will enjoy unforgettable experiences. To avoid feeling lost abroad, it’s better to select a high quality French language school in France. And the best place to do your first French course in France is Paris, the capital and the famous “city of lights”.

Located in the heart of Paris, ACCORD Language School offers intensive and super intensive French courses which will enable you to learn French fast!

Our Tips to Learn French Fast in France, in Paris!

And during your stay in Paris:

Make friends at ACCORD to speak French
At ACCORD the multicultural environment of the school will enable you to be placed in a class with students of many different nationalities who have the same level of French as you and who also have the same aim as you: learn French fast. In the class as well as during the coffee break or at lunchtime they will talk to you in French as the common language to all ACCORD students is… French.

Talk to Parisians
Don’t hesitate to talk to Parisians, in cafés, bars… Quick progress and a lot of fun guaranteed!
And if you choose to stay with a host family, you will get to practice your French every day and progress even quicker as you will continue practising what you’ve learnt in class. Choosing a stay with half board also mean that you will enjoy the way of life of a Parisian family!

Don’t be scared to try and make mistakes
You will not make progress if you don’t dive in — especially when it comes to speaking to Parisians. Don’t be scared to make mistakes! The persons you speak to will gladly correct you and help you progress. This is also the best way to learn French fast.

Listen
Actively listen to Parisians’ speaking: notice how they use certain expressions and do not hesitate to ask for explanations. When you’re in your accommodation (residence, hotel…) listen to a French radio program, and if you stay in a host family they will, for sure, watch the TV with you… listen to the news especially, as “passive listening” will help you progress.

Practice
During your homework, repeat the words and expressions you have learnt out loud at ACCORD, during your visits in Paris or with the host family. Don’t be scared to talk to yourself in order to work on your pronunciation!
And if you stay in a host family they will, for sure, not only listen to what you say (in French!) but they will correct you and help you to improve your oral French.

Be consistent
To learn French fast and efficiently, do some homework every day, even if it is only for five or ten minutes each time. And never hesitate to ask your teacher to give you some more homework, if you feel you can spend time doing more.

MORE TIPS TO LEARN FRENCH FAST

Sign up for a course in your home country
Following an extensive French course in your home country can be an excellent way to learn French before going abroad to Paris and to ACCORD.
Following a French course in your home country is also perfect after an immersion intensive course abroad as it will allow you to practise and ensure you don’t lose part of what you have learnt at ACCORD, you need to keep practicing.

Watch French films
When you’re back from your French course in France, watching films in French (with French subtitles or not) is one of the best ways to continue to practise your ‘listening’ French and to improve it. As not only do you listen to many French words you’ve used in Paris, but you will also discover new expressions and learn new vocabulary. Watching French films with French subtitles will also allow you to read words as the actors pronounce them: an ideal way to train your ear and to see the way these words are written. One more tip? Take notes and write these new words in your “carnet”. To read and say them over and over.

Listen to French songs
Just like films, songs are an excellent and fun way to improve your French. It will also help you understand better the way French people think and feel. It is better to select CDs with leaflets containing the lyrics of the songs. You will read the words you listen to, and understand what your favourite French songs actually mean!
Here are a few French singers ACCORD recommends: Yves Montand, Serge Gainsbourg, Claude Nougaro, Bashung, Christophe, and many more…

Read
Select the type of literature you love to read more French: poetry, novels, etc.
Of course you can select a course book or manual dedicated to learn French, with exercises, etc., but it is always best to alternate between traditional and fun study methods. And if you prefer an easier read, get some French magazines as they mirror the French culture and civilisation as well as keeping you updated with the latest French news.

So what are you waiting for, learning French is fun if you follow our tips and of course, you will have no excuse then but to plan a stay in Paris to improve your French and discover (and rediscover) one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Homestay accommodation with ACCORD Paris

Homestay accommodation with ACCORD Paris

Homestay has always been the most popular choice of accommodation for our students at ACCORD Paris. Our partners have more than 400 friendly and caring host families, who not only enjoy welcoming our students as if they were members of their own families but also love talking about the students’ countries and cultures and sharing experiences.

All our host families are located within Paris ‘intra muros’. No family is located in the suburbs, except if a student asks for a specific location, for example Boulogne, Neuilly, Montreuil, Vincennes, Colombes, etc.
Some families host just one student, others host two or more, but never from the same nationality or speaking language (for example no Australian student will be hosted with an American or English student in the same family at the same time).

Homestay accommodation in Paris

The host families are used to welcoming foreign students and, therefore, know how to help them familiarise themselves with the Parisian way of life and culture.

Some of our host families are from mixed backgrounds and may have had a similar experience, when they were younger, to that of our students arriving in Paris. Some have young children or teenagers living at home, some have pets, some are retired or live alone, some are vegetarian. This is why we always recommend our students to give us as much key information about themselves and what they are looking for in a host family so we can match their profile as closely as possible to the family they will be staying with whilst studying with us at ACCORD Paris.

Homestay accommodation

ACCORD and its partners offer a variety of accommodation options to suit every student’s budget: single rooms with bed & breakfast (B&B), room only (without breakfast), half-board (breakfast and evening meal every day), room with breakfast and access to the kitchen or with only 2 dinners per week. Twin rooms are available on request, and for two students/ friends coming to ACCORD for the same duration (arriving and leaving on the same day and at the same time).
Arrivals are on Sundays, departures on Saturdays, but additional nights are possible on request, at an additional fee.

The most popular option is the half-board one, with breakfast and dinner every day of the week and during the week-end. It allows you to go out sightseeing and come back to relax or do some homework, and to enjoy a home cooked meal shared with your host family, you will very quickly consider as your “second” family. Staying with a host family is one of the best way to continue practising your French outside the classroom and within a convivial home atmosphere!

Homestay accommodation with ACCORD Paris

You might like to stay with one of our host families but feel you would prefer your own bathroom facilities? This option is offered as “VIP host family” as it is quite rare to find apartments in Paris which have two bathrooms. You will pay a little extra for this but for some students who like their own private space, it is well worth it.

Whichever option you choose you have the full support of the ACCORD accommodation team who will always help you understand that perhaps things are a little different to what you are used to (French breakfast is for example very different from a German or English ones).

Choose your quality French language school in France

You are looking for a high quality French language course in France?
You are looking for an experienced and accredited French language school in France?

If you are considering taking a French language course abroad, here is what you need to think about before booking a French course.
The first question that you must ask yourself is “Where should I go to learn French, and which French language school is the best one for me?”
It means… “Which city in France do I want to go to? And how do I know the school you want to join is a quality French language school?”

Which city do I want to go to?

Having decided on France, you will need to think about whether you prefer a large city, a university town or somewhere in the countryside. Many parts of France are wonderful, with welcoming people and stunning sites, but we think that Paris is the best. With so many theatres, museums, restaurants, concert venues, historic buildings and wonderful places like the Champs Elysées and the Eiffel Tower, you will never be bored in Paris.

And if you want to explore other regions in France or even London, Brussels, Strasbourg and many other French and European cities, don’t forget that from Paris you will be just a train ride away. Taking the train is perfect to spend a weekend in a different place! Take for example the famous Eurostar and spend a weekend in London or Brussels!

If you are worried that Paris is too big or too crowded, remember that there are many different quiet and peaceful areas in Paris (the Tuileries garden, the Jardin du Luxembourg, the Buttes Chaumont, the Ile de la Cité or the Ile Saint-Louis, the Vert Galant, the now pedestrian banks on the Seine, etc.) where you can relax. From many of these areas, it takes less than 15 minutes by public transport to travel to the heart of Paris and ACCORD – so you’ll never miss out on the best that Paris has to offer.

Select a quality French school

How do I know this school is a quality French language school?

When you are considering a French language school, how do you know it is as good as its website says it is?
Our answer is just one word: School ACCREDITATION

First of all, ACCORD Paris is registered as a Private Institute of Higher Education at the Academy of Paris – Ministry of Higher Education. Similar to French school accreditations, the registration of our French language school as a Private Institute of Higher Education is another guarantee of the quality of ACCORD Paris.

Also, the best French schools are regularly inspected by an accrediting organisation which checks the quality of their teaching, student welfare, premises, administration and management, to make sure that you will learn French in a very good environment, that your enrolment will be handled efficiently and that you will get the course you have been promised. The major and official French school accreditation is “Qualité FLE”.

In 2007, ACCORD Paris was one of the first French language schools in France to have been awarded “Qualité FLE”, and ACCORD was given the Best marks (3 stars) in all areas (teaching, premises, etc.) by the inspectors.

An accredited French school like ACCORD in Paris will advertise on its website the official logo of the French “Qualité FLE”:

Furthermore, ACCORD Paris is member of SOUFFLE, a professional association of quality language schools teaching French as a foreign language. The SOUFFLE French language schools are committed to maintaining the high quality of their courses and services. This is why all SOUFFLE schools located in France also have the “Qualité FLE” French school accreditation required.

ACCORD Paris is also member of CAMPUS FRANCE.
CAMPUS FRANCE is an official organisation (created by the French State – Law n°2010-873, July 27th 2010) which aims to inform, promote and put forward the French Higher Education system abroad. Like the French school accreditations, the CAMPUS FRANCE membership is another assurance of the quality of ACCORD language school Paris.

We hope that this information has been helpful to you, so you can choose the right quality French language school in France for your French studies.
