My name is Greta and I am Swedish. I had always wanted to improve my French and study in Paris, as I had visited the city several times and absolutely loved it.

As I was nearing my 22^nd birthday and getting to the end of my business studies at university, I felt it was time to take the plunge and look into studying and living in Paris. Besides, once I had graduated from university, I wanted to be able to work in an international environment and being able to have a good level of French would enable me to get my perfect job.

I checked various options and decided to apply for a loan with CSN, the Swedish Board of Student Finance, a government agency that manages Swedish student finance, as this would help me budgeting my studies and stay in Paris, and realise my dream.

I also checked out several French language schools in Paris where I could study. I contacted a few schools, and ACCORD School was the first to respond to my enquiry.

Studying French in Paris with a CSN grant

ACCORD could offer the French course I needed to apply for the CSN loan scheme, they also were used to welcome Swedish students who had applied to study with them using the CSN grant, so they knew the procedures, etc. They were also very reactive and always extremely friendly which I appreciated.

ACCORD French Language School is also a Qualité FLE accredited school member of Campus France and located close to the Eiffel Tower, the perfect location for any foreign student. I also really liked the fact that the students come from all over the world. With over 35 years’ experience teaching French as a foreign language, they also offer many different types of courses from General French to Exam Preparation courses as well as French courses for professionals.

I looked through the very precise information they sent me about the courses available. I was level B1 so I could start any Monday I liked, I wanted to study French for 12 weeks, and this was of course possible and I could even extend if I wanted to.

My French language course at ACCORD

As I had a CSN grant, I chose a French course in Paris of 20 hours per week so I could improve quickly but also had time to explore Paris and self-study. ACCORD offers two options, the morning Course ‘A’, 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 9h00 to 13h00, and the afternoon Course ‘PM2’, 20 hours per week also, Monday to Friday from 14h00 to 18h15 with the last hour of the lessons being a coaching tutorial which helps students with the support of the teacher to revise some of the items covered in the afternoon lesson, do specific homework, etc.

As I am not an early riser and because the afternoon course was attractively priced for a 12-week course, I chose to book the afternoon French course PM2 which I really enjoyed as each afternoon is dedicated to specific topics (French Oral Communication on Mondays and Fridays, and French Writing & Grammar on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays). Having said that, some of the students I made friends with had booked the morning course (or a more intensive course with morning and afternoon lessons) and thoroughly enjoyed it.

For the accommodation, I opted for a flat-share option near the school which was great. I was lucky enough to live with 3 other students, a French student who was at a Business School, an Italian student who was doing an internship in a French company and a Korean student who was attending a cookery school.

The whole process with ACCORD from the first enquiry to booking and finalising everything with CSN was easy and studying at ACCORD was perfect for me. I loved the lessons, the teachers, the way they encourage you to communicate and become more confident. I also met some wonderful people who were studying with me and made friends for life… At the end of the course, I had really progressed well in French so I felt I could apply for a job where French was required.

The team at the ACCORD French Language School was really lovely and approachable. I also got all the documents I needed for CSN and when the 12 weeks were up, I just didn’t want to leave Paris…

I am now back in Stockholm, and after graduating, I got a job as a marketing executive for a great company which means I often travel to Europe and France in particular. I am planning my next visit to ACCORD School, this time I will take a French for Business course for a couple of weeks and hopefully this time my company will pay for it.

My name is Kate and this is the second time I have been coming to study at ACCORD French Language School in Paris. I have always loved Paris, and I want to be more proficient in French every time I visit Paris.

I had of course learnt French at school and I did manage a good mark at my French A Level, but being typically British, I always felt embarrassed to speak French in France. As I love France, the culture, the food of course, but also the French attitude towards family life, traditions, and after many trips and holidays, I decided to take the bull by the horns.

How and why did I choose to study French at ACCORD Paris

I decided to come to Paris to take a French language course, as Paris is such a beautiful city with many things to see and do. It is also the easy option for me as I can take the Eurostar and arrive in the city centre and of course there is only one border control on departure, which means you don’t have to queue up once you arrive and worry about having to check-in your luggage.

I then searched for a French course and spent some time checking out the various schools located in Paris. One of my friends had told me to choose a school accredited “Qualité FLE” as it is a guarantee of the quality of the courses and teaching, like the British Council in the UK. I then looked at many school websites. My priority was improving my communication skills and I wanted to join a reasonably intensive course so I could be more confident. I also felt I needed to stay with a Parisian host family so I could keep practising with my hosts, but I wanted to be sure that I would be in a safe area, close to a métro station, etc.

I contacted a few schools via their website contact page and the first one to respond was ACCORD. In fact they responded within a few hours of my request being sent, which was great. The information I was sent was very precise and complete. It helped me choose the course.

I did then send other mails with other questions, such as the location of the host families, the commute time I should expect, etc. The team at ACCORD always responded to me very quickly and very precisely. I finally was ready to book the French course and host family for 3 weeks.

My first French course and stay in Paris with ACCORD School

I had a fantastic time… the course I selected with the help of the School Team was the Oral Communication French Course. I met some fantastic people at the school, the students from all over the world are all motivated to improve their French. The teachers were always keen to help us, correcting our pronunciation, use of structures, and practising with confidence. I was placed with a lovely host family in a really beautiful area of the 13th arrondissement and close to the Parc Montsouris.

Together with my fellow students, we organised visits to museums, wandering round the markets at the weekend and using our French wherever we went.

At the end of the three weeks, I could not wait to come again.

My second stay in Paris with ACCORD School

For my second trip to Paris and my second time at ACCORD French Language School, I chose to come in the summer for two weeks. I had now reached a good level of French and this time I booked the morning course with three afternoon lessons focusing on writing and French grammar. As it was hot in Paris, I also enjoyed the fact that the school is fully airconditioned.

The emphasis again was on the oral communication in the morning and the afternoon lessons dedicated to writing and grammar were perfect as I could focus on my writing skills and revising some French grammar structures. Again, the teachers were very professional, attentive to our individual needs. And this time I also booked some trips with some of my classmates via GetYourGuide as they have an office located round the corner from the school. It was easy to find out about excursions and visits as the cultural programs available with GetYourGuide are displayed in the school.  I chose to visit Giverny and Monet’s house and also booked a cookery lesson to make “macarons” which was fantastic.

I also stayed with a great host family in another beautiful area of Paris, Montmartre. It was lovely to chat with the hosts at then end of the day over dinner and get their insight about life in Paris.

Already planning my third French course at ACCORD Paris!

I can’t wait to go to Paris again to ACCORD hopefully this autumn as I am now considering finding a new job where I can use my French professionally. I have already asked about the French for Business courses available at ACCORD. Can’t wait to go back!

Cinéma Paradiso Louvre

The 2025 edition will take place around four festive evenings in the majestic Cour Carrée of the museum, under the starry sky of Paris. Preparing for My A-Level French Exam at ACCORD Paris: A Success Story

My name is Nigel, and I’m an English student who last year spent two incredible weeks in Paris to prepare for my A-Level French exam. I had some weaknesses in both written and oral French, and I knew I needed a focused and intensive course to help me get the best possible marks when it came to taking my A-Level French exam. Why We Chose ACCORD’s Intensive French Course G

When my parents and I started looking for a French course to help me prepare for my A-Level French exam, we read reviews for several language schools. After careful consideration, my parents booked the Intensive French Course G for me, which offered 32 hours of French classes per week.

The course was perfectly tailored to my needs. Every morning, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday to Friday, I attended 20 hours of general French lessons. These classes were engaging and interactive, covering all aspects of the language, including speaking, reading, listening, learning new vocabulary and working on some grammar points, etc.

In addition to these morning general French classes, the French course G included four specialized afternoon classes:

• Two sessions dedicated to written French and grammar on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
• Two sessions focused on French oral communication on Monday and Friday afternoons, also from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

These specialized classes were exactly what I needed to address my weaknesses. The writing and grammar sessions helped me improve my sentence structure, verb conjugations, and overall written expression. The oral communication classes, on the other hand, gave me the confidence to speak without being afraid of making mistakes and express myself much clearly in French.

The Progress I Made

In just two weeks, I noticed a real significant improvement in both my written and oral French. The intensive schedule and the focused approach of the course allowed me to make rapid progress. And that’s what I needed! My grammar became more accurate, my written exercises more structured, and my speaking more fluent. The ACCORD teachers were all very pleasant, never hesitating to spend a little more time going over certain grammatical rules for me, because I must admit that I find French grammar very difficult.

What I also appreciated was the balance between the morning general French lessons and the afternoon classes. The morning classes kept me engaged with the language as a whole, while the afternoon classes targeted my specific areas of improvement. This combination was incredibly effective, and I felt well-prepared for my A-Level exam by the end of the two-week course.

I also loved the fact that I shared the experience of improving my French with other students from Japan, Mexico, Germany, etc. and the atmosphere was great. We continued chatting in French at break time over a café and a croissant bought from the fantastic local boulangerie.

Passing My A-Level French Exam

Thanks to the skills and confidence I gained at ACCORD, I successfully passed my A-Level French exam and got the marks I wanted to go the university I wanted to go to! The course not only helped me improve my language skills but also gave me the tools to approach the exam with confidence. I’m incredibly grateful to my teachers and the staff at ACCORD for their dedication and support.

Long-Term French Courses in France – Learn French in Paris

Long-term French courses in France are designed for students who want to learn French over a longer period and improve all four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing), prepare for a French exam or prepare for higher education in France. The duration of these courses can be one term, one semester or one academic year, but it can also be just one or two months.

ACCORD French language school in Paris offers a wide range of long-term French courses, whether you need to learn French for private or professional reasons, or to start or continue higher education studies in France.

Starting Dates: Long-Term French courses at ACCORD language school are open all year round and students can start a course any Monday if they are not complete beginners (starting dates for complete beginners: one starting date beginning of each month – Contact us to receive the course dates).

Intensity and duration: The number of course hours of the Long-Term French Courses in France range from 20 to 46 lessons per week and therefore vary in intensity and duration:

You can choose between two semi-intensive courses of 20 lessons per week and 7 intensive courses of 26 to 46 lessons per week. Three course programs to prepare for French exams (DELF, DALF, Abitur, ILS, GCSE and A/AS levels) are also offered, from 34 to 38 lessons per week.

For those who want or need to significantly improve their written French, a course of 38 lessons per week is offered, with three afternoon lessons dedicated solely to written French and grammar.

For those who want or need to improve their oral communication, an oral communication course of 34 lessons per week is offered, with two afternoon lessons solely dedicated to oral comprehension and oral expression.

Total flexibility guaranteed: no ACCORD French language program requires you to follow the same course throughout your stay and you can decide at any time to add additional lessons or change programs.

For example, you can register for a term (i.e. 12 weeks) in an intensive course of 26 lessons per week and ask at any time to add lessons in writing and grammar, for example, or oral communication to this course. You will only have to pay the small difference in price between the course you registered for and the more intensive course which includes these writing-grammar lessons. And you can do this for two or three weeks only, if you wish. You can of course choose oral communication lessons and not only take grammar writing lessons.

You can also, if you wish, change your course program by choosing to follow, for example, the DELF preparation course for the last 4 weeks of your stay. This time again, you will only have to pay the small difference in price between the course for which you registered and this DELF exam preparation course.

On the last day of their stay at ACCORD French Language School, each student is given a certificate indicating the duration and level of the course(s) taken, based on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
