World Teachers’ Day at ACCORD Paris Tour Eiffel School

Today is October 5th and today is World Teachers’ Day! It highlights how education can fuel change in our world. It is a beacon of hope that empowers individuals, turns societies around and affects the future. So who is it that fuels this transformation? The devoted teachers who work so hard to inspire people of all ages and share their infectious love for learning.
Let’s take a quick look at the history of World Teachers’ Day and say a big thank you to our wonderful French teachers here at ACCORD Paris French language school.

A potted history

UNESCO launched World Teachers’ Day in 1994 to give the vital role that teachers play in shaping our society the recognition they deserve. It’s more than a celebration of teachers though. October 5th is the anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 UNESCO/ILO recommendation regarding the status of teachers and setting the standard for their rights and responsibilities on an international scale. Every year UNESCO uses it as a platform to address issues facing teachers today. The theme for this year’s World Teachers’ Day is “The teachers we need for the education we want: The global imperative to reverse the teacher shortage.”  The 2023 event puts the spotlight on the significant fall in teachers and how we must make recruitment and retention our focus to put the brakes on the decline.

World Teachers’ Day at ACCORD Paris Tour Eiffel School: Celebrations in Paris

UNESCO has unveiled an original photography exhibition celebrating teachers from all over the world as part of World Teachers’ Day. Not only does the exhibition display portraits and testimonials in recognition of teachers’ devotion, passion and commitment to shaping the future, but it will also present UNESCO’s campaigns to support teachers. Where can you see the exhibition? It’s just a 15 minute walk from ACCORD language school outside the UNESCO Headquarters at 7 Place de Fontenay.

World Teachers’ Day at ACCORD Paris Tour Eiffel School: Celebrating ACCORD’s teachers

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our teachers for everything that they do for our wonderful students in our French language courses. ACCORD language school has had its fair share of challenges in recent years, with the pandemic, lockdown and new premises, but our teachers have always been our students’ rock, providing support and guidance wherever possible. We would like to thank them for sharing our French language, culture, history, traditions and more with our students of all ages and all nationalities. On behalf of all our staff and students, we would like to wish (…) a very happy World Teachers’ Day!
